A LIPOSUCTION Surgery IN DUBAI
Liposuction in Dubai, also called suction-assisted lipectomy, is a surgical procedure performed by using a hollow metal surgical instrument known as a cannula that is inserted through small skin incisions and is passed back and forth through the areas of fatty deposits. The cannula is attached to a vacuum source, which provides the suction needed to remove the fatty tissue. The term “liposuction” itself means “suctioning of fat.”

LIPOSUCTION FAQs
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction in Dubai at Hasan Surgery is the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure worldwide for men and women. Liposuction can give you a more contoured body appearance in your problem areas by removing stubborn pockets of fat in specific areas by suctioning them. The goal of liposuction in any area is an aesthetically pleasing and natural-looking result.
It is worth noting that liposuction is not a weight loss surgery; instead, it is a body contouring surgery. People who are overweight should consider other weight loss options before undergoing liposuction.
How is Liposuction performed?
Liposuction in Dubai at Hasan Surgery is done either under local, IV sedation, or general anesthesia. During the surgery, your doctor will mark your body and make incisions on the part/s from where fat is to be extracted. The procedure starts with injecting anesthesia fluid known as Tumescent into the desired liposuction area. The fat is then broken down with the help of either mechanical or energy devices that liquify the fat and allow the fat to be extracted by using fine syringes known as cannula (plural: cannulae) attached to a low-power suction. The liposuction surgeon will use gentle back-and-forth movements to suction the desired amount of fat and reshape the body parts being treated. The process is similar to a vacuum cleaner suctioning dirt. Once the desired fat volume is extracted, the surgeon will close the incisions. The skin then molds itself to your new contours.
Once done, ideally, there should be no significant lumpiness or irregularity of shape.
As an additional procedure, you may transfer the removed fat to an alternate body part you wish to augment, such as the breast or buttocks. This is known as fat grafting or fat transfer.
Who is an ideal candidate for Liposuction in Dubai?
The ideal candidate should be a healthy person who has achieved a healthy weight. They should not have fluctuating weight or any medical condition that could interfere with wound healing.
The ideal candidate is interested in eliminating select stubborn pockets of fat and desires a sleeker, more contoured appearance in those body areas.
Liposuction is not meant for people with poor skin elasticity. It does not also correct cellulite issues, stretch marks, or excess/ loose skin.
As a possible Liposuction candidate, you must have realistic expectations about your resultant appearance after the procedure. You must stop smoking before and after the surgery, as tobacco can slow down the blood flow to the skin and thereby slow down the healing process.
Before ensuring your candidature for the Liposuction, your liposuction surgeon will review your medical history and past and present health condition. You will have to discuss your medication, including any herbal supplements. The surgery will show desirable results only on people who are generally healthy and do not have any prior history of having cardiac issues, pulmonary emboli, excessive bleeding, seizures, immunodeficiency disorders, or deep vein thrombosis. People with such conditions are discouraged from undergoing this procedure due to a higher risk of surgical complications.
People on specific anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant drugs are also discouraged from undergoing liposuction. Further, people with poor skin elasticity are also less suitable candidates for the procedure.
What are the treatment areas for Liposuction?
Liposuction is possible on most body parts. You can choose to do liposuction for 1 or more areas in a single surgery.
Liposuction is usually done for the following body parts:
- Abdomen
- Arms (upper)
- Back
- Bra-roll
- Breast
- Buttocks
- Chest (for men – gynecomastia surgery)
- Chin
- Face
- Flanks/ Love Handles
- Hips
- Legs – Thighs/ Calves
- Neck
- Stomach/ Tummy
- Waist
What are the different types/ techniques of Liposuction?
Over time, liposuction techniques have evolved. From traditional liposuction, which is still popular, to newer techniques, various options are now available. Your liposuction should choose the most effective technique for your specific case. The different liposuction types/ techniques are:
Standard Liposuction or Suction-Assisted Liposuction (SAL) – This is the most traditional liposuction technique that suctions fat using a cannula attached to a vacuum source.
Tumescent Liposuction – This common technique involves injecting a saline solution mixed with anesthetics and fat dissolvers into the treatment area. This solution liquefies the fat while also making the area numb, allowing the fat to be suctioned easily, with lesser pain and blood loss.
Power-assisted Liposuction (PAL) – This is a variation of the traditional liposuction, involving the addition of a power tool to speed up the fat removal process by quickening the cannula’s movement.
Laser-assisted Liposuction (LAL) – This newer technique, also called Smartlipo or Laser lipo, involves using a laser to melt the fat before suction. This technique is generally used for smaller areas where a small volume of fat is to be extracted, such as arms, chin, or neck.
Ultrasound-assisted Liposuction (UAL) – This new technique works similarly to laser liposuction, except that ultrasound energy is used to liquify the fat instead of a laser. It is the preferred technique of skilled surgeons and is very effective for higher volume liposuction and liposuction of fat-dense areas.
VASER Liposuction – This new technique is a variation of UAL and uses ultrasound energy to melt the fat. An ultrasonic probe with multiple grooves is used in VASER Liposuction, which helps to disperse the energy evenly while liquifying the fat. It has the same advantage as UAL regarding high volume liposuction and liposuction of areas with dense fat deposits. It is also most effective for advanced body contouring, including 4D hi-definition liposuction.
It is the preferred technique for complex body contouring by skilled surgeons trained with the technology.
As mentioned earlier, our founder Dr. Hasan Ali is referred to as the “VASER king” for being the pioneer of VASER liposuction in the UAE and for his phenomenal expertise with the technology.

How much fat can be safely removed via Liposuction?
At Hasan Surgery, safety is always our priority. So we prefer not to remove more than 5-6% of the body weight as fat.
Therefore, if a patient weighs 80 Kgs, as a standard, about 4 liters of fat is the maximum fat taken out in one session. However, in rare situations, mega liposuction may be needed to relieve severe symptoms resulting from substantial fat deposits.
What is the cost of Liposuction in Dubai?
The cost of Liposuction in Dubai depends on the following factors:
- Skill and experience of the plastic surgeon
- Standard of the clinic/ hospital where the surgery will be performed
- The treatment area/s – which ones and how many
- Amount of fat to be extracted
- Whether the procedure is combined with other body contouring surgeries
It is advised to get an initial consultation from a specialist plastic surgeon to know the cost applicable to your case and your eligibility for the procedure.
What anesthesia is ususally given for Liposuction?
At our clinic in Dubai, Liposuction is mostly performed under local anesthesia or IV sedation.
When can I resume normal activities after my Liposuction?
Most people are able to go back to work within 2-3 days.
What are the possible risks and side effects of Liposuction?
Liposuction is a very safe procedure in the hands of a skilled liposuction surgeon, but the following complications may be seen:
- Infection
- Seroma formation
- Temporary numbness
- Asymmetry
- Contour irregularities
What recovery and post-operative precautions are needed after Liposuction?
Most patients experience pain and discomfort after the surgery when anesthesia effects diminish. You will start to feel comfortable after 2-3 days.
Immediately after the Liposuction surgery, the incisions will be covered in bandages. These loosely wrapped bandages will help minimize the swelling. Sometimes, a small tube will be placed in the treated areas to drain the excess blood and lymph fluid. After removing the bandages and the tube, your liposuction surgeon will recommend you wear a compression garment for a few weeks to aid the healing process and keep the swelling down. It is normal to feel some loss of sensation in the treated areas after the liposuction. This temporary numbness will go away once the part is completely healed.
When will the results of my Liposuction be visible?
Post-surgery, there will be an immediate visible improvement in the shape and appearance of your treated area, though there will be bruising and swelling that may last for 2-4 weeks. The final results from your liposuction surgery will be visible between 2-4 months after the procedure, though it may take even longer in some cases.
How can I maintain the results of my Liposuction?
The fat removed after liposuction is permanently gone from your body. For best results, strictly follow the care instructions of your plastic surgeon before and after the surgery. For lasting results, maintain a stable and healthy weight.
